Millions of immunizations have been successfully performed. Hence, most of the antibodies commercially available for biomedical research in the world have been produced using BLUE CARRIER® .

BLUE CARRIER®  (often called Blue Carrier Protein) is a highly immunogenic carrier protein used to stimulate an immune response when developing antibodies against peptides and haptens. It is best known as a premium alternative to Keyhole Limpet Hemocyanin (KLH) for its higher solubility and stability in conjugation protocols. Mollusk-derived hemocyanins are highly immunogenic in vertebrates due to their large molecular size (Mr 8.0 × 106), glycosylations, complex structure, and distant phylogenetic origin.

BLUE CARRIER® contains several epsilon-amino groups from lysine and carboxylic groups (Asp or Glu). These allow conjugation with peptides and haptens by traditional methods such as glutaraldehyde and 1-ethyl-3-(3-dimethylaminopropyl) carbodiimide (EDCI), as well as via sulfhydryl groups introduced into the peptides.

Hemocyanins are generally marketed as solid, freeze-dried products, and exhibit reduced solubility upon resuspension, primarily due to their high molecular weight. In contrast, BLUE CARRIER® maintains high solubility because its collection and purification processes yield a pure, blue, transparent solution suspended in an optimal buffer. Concholepas hemocyanin demonstrates exceptional stability and solubility.
