IMMMUNOCYANIN® Sterile is composed of hemocyanin purified under sterile and endotoxin-free conditions from the hemolymph of the mollusk Concholepas concholepas. Its applications include functioning as protein-based adjuvants and acting as non-specific immunostimulants in cancer vaccine strategies. This preparation has been evaluated as a safe protein adjuvant in experimental therapeutic vaccines utilizing autologous antigen-presenting cells loaded with allogeneic melanoma tumor cell lysates.

Biosonda’s formulation meets customer needs by offering a protein concentration of 25 mg/ml. IMMUNOCYANIN® Sterile is a sterile solution that maintains the molecule’s immunogenic and physicochemical properties. This immune response against hemocyanin is not harmful since mammals, including humans, do not possess molecules similar to hemocyanins. 

IMMUNOCYANIN® Sterile purification yields a blue, pure, and transparent solution. In addition, the hemocyanin from Concholepas concholepas  (CCH) displays a unique structure consisting of two polypeptide chains, in contrast to the rest of the hemocyanins, which are made of only one polypeptide chain, thus giving the molecule greater stability and immunogenicity.

High-yield conjugation: Each CCH molecule offers hundreds of primary amines for efficient hapten coupling using EDC or NHS ester crosslinkers.

Due to its superior solubility compared with KLH, IMMMUNOCYANIN® Sterile can be used in a wider range of conjugation protocols, including those involving unusual or poorly soluble haptens.

IMMMUNOCYANIN® Sterile is highly immunogenic and demonstrates a level of immunogenicity and phylogenetic distance comparable to that of keyhole limpet hemocyanin (KLH). Hemocyanins consistently favor Th1-skewed immune responses, which is a key characteristic of their adjuvant potential.
